Mrs. Brenda Gail Shope, 70
Mrs. Brenda Gail Shope, 70, of Oakwood passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Taylor will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Born on February 20, 1950 in Gilmer County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Holtzclaw and Martha Lavain Chester Holtzclaw. Mrs. Shope was a member of Central Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shope is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Shope and son, Jason Larry Westmoreland.
Mrs. Shope is survived by her daughter, Kristi Westmoreland of Oakwood; daughter and son in law, Stephanie and Walter Hance of Flowery Branch; grandson, Connor Westmoreland; granddaughters, Cherish Westmoreland, Natalie Hance; sisters and brothers in law, Jean and Jerry Foster of Cleveland, Sherry and Bryce Shook of Murrayville; brother and sister in law, Danny and Sharon Holtzclaw of Gainesville; three nephews and a number of other relatives.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, GA 30501.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504 is in charge of arrangements.

Gail was one of the best friends I ever knew. We were very close in elementary and high school. We graduated together and spent a lot of time at each other's houses. We shared many good times and memories. She will always hold a special place in my heart.

I am so sorry to hear about Gail passing. I have so many memories of ya'll. When we lived down the road from all. You always had the best play house., and the big willow tree to climb.,and sleeping on top of bunk beds, And so much more,I can hear her laughing now. Oh, I loved Gail and I were good friends. We both went to North Hall graduated and found each other again 45 years later and it seemed like we never were apart. I am very sorry for your loss.
