Keith Wynn Darracott

Mr. Keith Wynn Darracott was 67 years old of Gainesville, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, February, 29, 2024 at 8:40 p.m. following an extended illness.

Keith was born on March 12, 1956 to Joel Eugene and Avie Adelle (Smith) Darracott in Gainesville. He attended North Hall High School and had a love for carpentry passed down from his father “Gene”, with whom he built many fine homes in North Georgia.

He is survived by his mother, Adelle Hodge; brothers, Terry Darracott, Dale Darracott; sons, Chacer Evans, Casey Evans, Dominick Darracott, Jesse James Darracott; nephew, Terry Joel Darracott; mother of his children, Darlene Whitmire-Hopkins; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Our dad was always an individual. He was a maker, he loved to work and create with his hands- an artist in his own right. From early life, Keith struck out on his own path whether hitchhiking cross country to roughneck oil rigs or running a sawmill and living in a mash tent with his family to homestead property in North Carolina. In our minds he will always be a larger than life character. Dad had an unwavering faith in the grace of Jesus Christ. He is greatly loved and greatly missed. Please pray for the family at this time.

A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2024 (on his birthday) at Belmont Baptist Church, 3635 Belmont Hwy Gainesville, GA 30507. Minister Chacer Evans will officiate. Please feel free to bring any pictures and stories about Keith to share.
